LAURIE FARRIER WILL BE TEACHING THE LOG CABIN AFGHAN SQUARE ON SUNDAY SEPT. 20 AND SUNDAY OCT 3 FROM 1-3PM. FIRST LESSON IS GENERAL CONSTRUCTION OF YOUR SQUARE AND SECOND LESSON IS THE ATTACHING OF SQUARES TO MAKE THE AFGHAN. COME INTO THE SHOP TO SEE THE SAMPLE. IT IS GORGEOUS! SHE MADE HERS OUT OF NORO KUREYON. WE HAVE MANY DISCONTINUED COLORS ON SALE. YOU CAN USE ANY WORSTED WEIGHT YARNS. PLEASE SIGN UP EARLY TO ASSURE WE HAVE ENOUGH ROOM. Isn't it too hot to knit? I get asked this all summer and my response is NEVER! I would be afraid to see what I would be like if I did't knit a little bit each day. Try small projects made from cotton if you feel its too hot to work with wool. Many women put their babies in cotton all year round because of the softness on tender skin. Check out Itty Bitty Hats for some inspiration! Cotton socks are great because you don't have to hand wash them. New sock books and patterns are out all the time! Come by the air conditioned store,bring your knitting and cool off with us!

60 miles of memories

A BIG thank you to the village Stitchery ,its staff and many customers who supported my daughter and I on the Susan G. Komen breast cancer 3-day walk. Over the weekend of July24-26 we walked 60 miles to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer. It was the most inspirational and grueling thing i have ever done. I thought of so many of you as I walked. I crocheted a hat and put ribbons on it with the initials of all who donated. Please stop by the shop and see it.

Row 3: *(Slip 1, k9); repeat from * across, end sl 1. Row 4: *(Slip 1, p9); repeat from * across; end sl 1. Rows 5 & 6: Repeat rows 3 & 4. Row 7: Knit. Row 8: Purl. Rows 9-18, repeat rows 7 & 8—5 more times. Then begin lace pattern below. Lace Pattern: Row 1: K10, k2tog, yo, * (k6, k2tog, yo); repeat from * across, end with k3. Row 2: Purl.
