It was a great time being surrounded by knitters and crocheters for 4 days.  I took 5 classes and learned many new things to pass on to customers.  The market was still showing shawls, especially lace.  I am working on many new samples for the store. Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same  as sleeves for 1”, end on WS.  Knit 1 row, purl 1 row.  Bind off  knitwise.  Mark placement of 6 buttons, the first 1” from lower edge,  the last at beg of neck and the others evenly spaced between.&lt;/p&gt; &lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Right Front/Neckband: &lt;/strong&gt; With RS facing, using  circular needle, beg at cast-on edge of right front, pick up and  k118(122-122-126-126-130) sts to center of back neck. I get asked this all summer and my response is NEVER!  I would be afraid to see what I would be like if I did't knit a little bit each day.  Try small projects made from cotton if you feel its too hot to work with wool.  Many women put their babies in cotton all year round because of the softness on tender skin.  Check out Itty Bitty Hats for some inspiration! Cotton socks are great because you don't have to hand wash them.  New sock books and patterns are out all the time! type='text'>60 miles of memories</title><content type='html'>&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;A BIG thank you to the village Stitchery ,its staff and many customers who supported my daughter and I on the Susan G. Komen breast cancer 3-day walk.&lt;/span&gt;  Over the weekend of July24-26 we walked 60 miles to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.  It was the most inspirational and grueling thing i have ever done.  I thought of so many of you as I walked.  I crocheted a hat and put ribbons on it with the initials of all who donated. I think baby garments can be made from cotton all year round!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I want to extend a great big THANK YOU  to  Diane &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Leeman&lt;/span&gt; who filled in at the store all summer.  Many of you commented on  what an asset she has been to the store.  We hope she sticks around this fall.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;Thank&lt;/span&gt; you also to Marlene And Linda  who kept things running smoothly so Nancy and I could enjoy Maine(Rain and all).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Our continued prayers for a full recovery for Sue.  I haven't seen her but I hear she is driving now and getting back to a more normal routine. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Store hours are back to the  regular schedule.  &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;Keep&lt;/span&gt; checking the postings regarding being open on Sunday afternoons!!!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;New classes begin the week of Sept 15&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;th&lt;/span&gt;. Things have been busy at the shop.  As you know Sue has been out of work for a while and we all miss her terribly.  Everyone one is pitching in to fill her hours so those of you that usually come up to the shop on Thursday, Friday and Saturday may see Nancy , Marlene or Kate.  We will help you any way we can. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just because the summer has hit us quickly don't think we haven't been planning for Fall. Many new yarns are scheduled for September delivery.    But you don't have to wait until then to be inspired. As the weather gets warmer(yes it will get warmer) some people stop knitting.  They can't picture themsleves working on a beautiful wool sweater as the mercury climbs.  Give cotton and cotton blend yarns  a chance.  They make beautiful 3 season garments.  Try some of the newer fibers such as soy,bamboo and linen blends.
